Deceased’s Full Name: Beverly Rae (Klosterman) Nelson
Date of Birth: 11/23/1931
Location of Passing: Chaska, MN
Date of Passing: 3/6/2026
Biographical Information:
Beverly Nelson was born in Laurel, Nebraska to Henry J. Klosterman and Gustava (Miles) Klosterman. As a child, Beverly moved frequently with her family as her father worked for a construction company contracted by the U.S. government during World War II, requiring him to be present at various project sites across the country. Beverly was the oldest of three children and grew up alongside her two brothers, Miles and Hank, both of whom preceded her in death.
Beverly married William R. Nelson in 1949. They had four children: Randy, Suzy, Sally and Nancy. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy in 2007. The family grew up in Minneapolis and Edina, Minnesota. In 1972, Beverly began a career in retail at JB Hudson Jewelers. In 1980, she was given the opportunity to assist in opening – and later managing – the Byerly’s Gift Gallery, a shop known for its upscale, unique, and carefully curated items. She especially enjoyed accompanying the Byerly family on buying trips to New York.
Even after her ‘retirement’ from Byerly’s, Beverly continued doing what she loved by working in the gift department at Von Maur. She had a special appreciation for beautiful and distinctive items and was known for her keen eye and excellent work. Beverly retired fully in 2002. In her retirement, she spent time in Massachusetts visiting her daughter and family, socializing with the many friends she met at her condo and spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. The core of her existence was being surrounded by family.
Bev was a very warm and loving person and people were drawn to her beautiful blue eyes and cheeky smile. You couldn’t help but notice her love for the color red and her perfectly styled accessories.
Gramma B had seven grandchildren whom she loved and embraced. Great Gramma B had 15 great grandchildren, ranging in age from one and a half to 18 years old. She delighted in watching them grow over the years and, more recently, enjoyed keeping up with the newest member of the family in Massachusetts through Facebook – or as she called it ‘Spacebook’.
