The Chaska Hawks boys basketball program has given the community plenty to celebrate this season, and now fans will have a chance to celebrate directly with the team.
Cy’s Bar & Grill and Carver County Local News (CCLN) sports writer Kirk Walton are teaming up to host the first ever “Hawk Huddle” on Sunday, March 1, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the community, offering fans the opportunity to meet head coach Nick Hayes and members of the Hawks roster, celebrate an outstanding regular season and get a preview of what’s to come in the postseason.
The Hawks wrapped up the regular season with an impressive 22-4 record, capping off a perfect 14-0 run through the Metro West Conference, including a thrilling 91-88 road win at Waconia to close it out. The conference championship is the Hawks’ first since 2021 and the first under Coach Hayes.

Chaska will learn their first-round opponent this weekend, and will likely host a first-round Section 2AAAA playoff game on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. The Hawks are currently ranked in the top ten in Class AAAA, alongside highly-ranked Prior Lake and Eden Prairie.
The Hawk Huddle will feature a Q&A session beginning at 1:30 p.m., hosted by CCLN sports writer Kirk Walton. Coach Hayes and several of the team’s student-athlete leaders will take questions, giving fans a look at the program’s culture, the championship run and what the team is focused on heading into the postseason.
Whether you’ve been following the Hawks all season or just want to show your community pride, the Hawk Huddle at Cy’s is the place to be on March 1.
