Chaska Couple Preparing to ‘Dance Like the Stars’

Luke and Alyssa Walford, Chaska residents since 2014, are preparing for a big event in April.

Though they aren’t professional dancers, they’ll be part of the 2026 “Dance Like the Stars” competition, held at the Glencoe City Center.

Presented by 2B Continued, an organization that supports suicide prevention and mental health awareness, the event is a fundraiser that features 12 “star” couples from Brown, Carver, McLeod, Nicollet, Renville, Sibley and Wright counties.

In preparation, each team of two is working with a professional choreographer to learn a dance routine plus raising money for the organization and awareness of its mission.

At the annual gala on April 11, they’ll participate in a friendly dance competition. Funds raised will be used for education, outreach and events in local communities.

The Walfords believe in supporting their community.

“We have two children in the Eastern Carver County School District and are actively involved in numerous community sports and activities. We’re members of Crown of Glory Church and deeply value giving back because so much has been given to our family,” Luke said.

Alyssa has worked at South Metro Federal Credit Union for 12 years and is actively involved as a board member, coaching director, and coach with the Chaska Juniors Volleyball program.

Luke is an Air Force veteran, owner of Sublime Lawn and Gardens (a small Chaska-based lawn and gardening business), and a children’s book author of three published books.

“Together, we’re passionate about strengthening our community and supporting causes that make a meaningful difference,” Luke said. “For this event, we’re dancing in honor of Austin Brown, a family friend we lost to suicide in 2021 at just 15 years old, and for all those we’ve lost too soon — especially our veterans — to remind anyone who may be struggling that they are not alone.”
