The Chanhassen Fire Department is inviting individuals to consider joining its team of dedicated firefighters. Training will be provided to accepted applicants, meaning that both experienced and new candidates are welcome.
As a combination department, Chanhassen’s fire service is made up of full-time, part-time and paid-on-call (POC) members who respond to emergencies across the city and provide mutual aid to neighboring communities.
The department responds to an average of 1,500 calls each year, ranging from medical emergencies and structure fires to severe weather and community assistance.
An informational open house will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Chanhassen Fire Station 1 (7610 Laredo Drive). Attendees will have the opportunity to meet current firefighters, learn about the department’s mission and explore what it takes to serve the community.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, live within 15 minutes of the station and be able to complete required firefighter and emergency medical training — both paid for by the department. Members receive pay for training and duty hours, flexible scheduling and retirement benefits through either the Chanhassen Relief Association or the Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Account. No prior experience is required.
The Chanhassen Fire Department prides itself on professionalism, teamwork and service to the community, offering modern equipment, ongoing training and strong community support.
