The Chanhassen 15AAA baseball team has etched its name into the record books, capturing both the MBT and Gopher State baseball tournament titles in a thrilling back-to-back display of grit, teamwork and heart. This marks the first time in Chanhassen Baseball Association history that a team has won both prestigious state tournaments in the same season.
The MBT championship game against Eden Prairie was a nail-biter, tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. In the top of the 8th inning, Chanhassen surged ahead with two clutch runs. Their defense held strong in the bottom of the inning, allowing just one run to secure a 3-2 extra-inning victory and the MBT state title.
Just seven days later, Chanhassen faced Coon Rapids in the Gopher State championship. Holding a narrow 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the 7th, the team faced intense pressure with two outs and runners on second and third. A final, decisive out sealed the win and crowned Chanhassen state champions once again.
The team’s success is a testament to years of dedication and chemistry, with many players having played together since they were 10 years old.
The championship roster included: Adam Mueller, Andrew Bellefy, Baron Bogucki, Caden Orcutt, Cole Kasid, Easton Christl, Joey Santjer, Jonathan Moore, Jordan Kelley, Kade Farenbaugh and Kolton Kockler.
They are led by coaches Pat Kasid, Jerry Orcutt and Travis Christl, whose leadership and commitment have been instrumental in the team’s development and success.
“This group has shown incredible resilience and unity,” said Coach Pat Kasid. “Winning one state title is special — winning two in one week is unforgettable.”
“This is something we’ve dreamed about since we were little,” said Kolton Kockler, pitcher and 1st baseman. “To win both tournaments with this group of guys — it’s unreal.”
Adam Mueller, pitcher and center fielder, added, “We’ve been grinding all season. These games came down to heart, and we never gave up.”
Easton Christl, 2nd baseman, reflected on the team’s bond.
“Most of us have played together since we were 10,” he said. “We know each other so well, and that chemistry showed in the clutch moments.”
