City Council Updates

Bluffs Community Center Bond Sale: The council approved the sale of $13.2 million in bonds to fund the land purchase and design of the Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center.

Detached Accessory Dwelling Units: Detached ADUs are now allowed in select zoning districts — provided owners apply for a conditional use permit and meet specific requirements. These units cannot be used as rentals.

Audit Report: The city received another clean audit from Abdo. Council also discussed the state of water and stormwater funds and suggested a future review of the stormwater fee structure.

MMW Roundabout Update: The council postponed the roundabout at Minnetonka Middle School West and will continue exploring broader Highway 41 corridor improvements.

Recognitions and Youth Projects: Council recognized National Public Works Week and celebrated a local Eagle Scout who installed a pollinator garden at Olson Community Garden.

2026 Budget Process: The City Council and staff have begun the nearly six-month process of preparing the annual budget. This involves taking a deep dive into all funds and projects, and listening to public feedback. Council work sessions and council meetings between now and December will cover everything from preliminary discussions to final adoption of the levy, budgets and capital improvement plans. Public participation and feedback is welcome and encouraged. Check out upcoming dates here.
