The Carver Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) currently has a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors for District 1 and candidates are being sought.
District 1 covers Chanhassen (Precincts 4 and 6), and Chaska (Wards 3 and 4). This is an appointed position and will fill out a vacant term ending Dec. 31, 2026. Interested candidates must live within the boundaries of Carver SWCD District 1.
SWCD’s are special purpose units of government that manage and direct local conservation programs. All programs are focused on assisting landowners with implementing voluntary conservation to protect the health of lakes, rivers and other natural resources in Carver County.
SWCD supervisors should have an interest in conserving natural resources. Supervisors meet monthly to discuss and approve SWCD business items, including conservation program policy, spending grant funds, reviewing partner agency reports, and overseeing staff activities.
Supervisors do not receive a salary, but are compensated a per diem for attending meetings and are reimbursed for expenses.
If you are interested in serving on the SWCD Board and live in District 1, send a letter of interest to the Carver SWCD manager. In the letter, introduce yourself, state your interest in conservation, and explain why you think you would be a good fit to serve on the SWCD Board of Supervisors.
Letters can be emailed to mwanous@carvercountymn.gov. If you prefer to mail or drop your letter off in person, the address is 11360 Highway 212 STE 6, Cologne, MN 55322. Call District Manager Mike Wanous at (952) 466-5235 for more information about the position.
