Construction Season Disrupts Several Routes in Carver County

By Allison Larson

Road construction projects continue in many Carver County cities. Recent updates include:

Highways 41/10 (Engler Boulevard)

Crews continued work on the new roundabout at Engler Boulevard and Bavaria Road, built embankments, laid gravel, prepared trails and installed curbs and drainage structures.

Median removals at Highway 41/Chestnut Street and White Oak Drive will begin the week of May 27, with temporary lane closures expected.

The project timeline has slipped from early June (original estimate) to mid- to late June. Plan to follow detours on Highways 61, 11 and 212.

Highway 101 bridge maintenance

On May 27, extensive maintenance begins on the Highway 101 bridge between Highway 61 (Flying Cloud Drive) in Chanhassen and the Minnesota River Boat Launch and Archery Park in Shakopee.

Crews will reseal the bridge deck and replace worn expansion joints to help preserve the structure and extend its life. The work is expected to last through early July. Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the project.

Highway 17 (Powers Boulevard and West 78th Street) – Crews are working on curb and pedestrian ramp replacements. Lane closures are expected through late May.

Highway 11 (Victoria Drive)

Sewer, water pump, and utility work continue throughout the project corridor.

Visitors to the Reserve can access the nature center, campground, singletrack, horse trails, and archery range from the north. A full closure of Highway 11 south of the campground entrance is expected in early June.

Highways 11/14

This intersection is closed for roundabout construction until early July. Due to heavy rainfall, storm sewer work is scheduled to begin in late May. Review detour information, which includes Shady Oak Drive and Highways 10, 11 and 43.
