The Carver County Library will wrap up a busy spring of programs with music and special storytimes scheduled for the remainder of May.

Don’t miss the Torres-Pena Family Band, performing in Chaska on May 17

The Torres-Peña Family Band will perform at the Chaska Library on Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. Combining the spirit of Mexican tradition with American folk music, La Familia Torres-Peña offers a varied program of traditional songs, along with songs taken from Mexican pop and music halls, love songs and adaptations of American pop including a few with an Irish flair. The group features rich harmony arrangements with members playing the guitar, violin, vijuela, dulcimer and more. This program is funded by Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The Chanhassen Library will present Sleepover Storytime on Tuesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. Wear cozy pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed toy and a blanket to snuggle on. Participants will enjoy bedtime stories, rhymes, songs and a snack. Note to parents: this is the perfect event to help wind kids down before bed.

Drive-In Storytime will be held at Chanhassen on Thursday, May 22 at 3:30 p.m. This event is for families with children ages 18 months to five years. Attendees will be treated to a special story time where boxes will be turned into cars for the “drive-in.” Everyone will sit in the “cars” for a short storytime program and then watch a BookFlix movie on a big screen (with snacks provided).

Both storytimes require registration online or by calling the Chanhassen Library at 952-303-0401. Additionally, for Drive-In Storytime, attendees should bring a box that the child will fit in. Library staff will provide all the supplies to turn the box into a “car.”
